Relined is expanding its Dark Fiber network in internet hub Amsterdam. The second quarter of 2020 will see the NorthC data centre in Oude Meer connected via two unique routes, allowing for the delivery of redundancy. Relined has noted an increase in demand for NorthC’s data centres. This data centre therefore most definitely represents an enlargement of the network, as well as another boost for the already excellent cooperation between Relined and NorthC, including in the area of end users – with whom both organisations maintain extensive contact.
The NorthC data centre in Oude Meer lies right in the heart of the Amsterdam metropolitan area at Fokker Logistics Park and offers a 6,200 m² data hall and 5.5 MW of available power. The data centre is CO₂-neutral and runs on 100% sustainably generated electricity. The data centre also uses energy efficient free cooling and the racks are located in completely sealed cold corridors. This cuts down both power consumption and CO₂ emissions.
Relined Fiber Network enters into cooperations in order to (redundantly) connect as many carrier-neutral data centres as possible with the aim of fulfilling demand for well-secured data centres. One of these cooperations is with NorthC – a cooperation that goes back many years. A total of ten data centres are now connected, including three on Relined’s Amsterdam metro network. NorthC is a cooperation involving two big players on the IT market: The Datacenter Group and NLDC. By combining their extensive knowledge and many years of experience, together they have become the largest regional data centre business in the Netherlands. With a focus on sustainable business, all of NorthC’s data centres run on 100% green energy.
Rick van Fucht, Manager Connectivity at NorthC: “As a carrier-neutral and cloud-neutral data centre, it’s essential for us to have a party like Relined on board from the start. Offering collocation and connectivity services is inextricably intertwined. Thanks to the network of dark fibre optics connections offered by Relined, our joint customers are able to further expand their networks into the Netherlands, Germany and/or Denmark.”
Relined has (Dark Fiber) fibre optics infrastructure embedded in Amsterdam’s metro network. This means fixed, competitive rates for data centre connections, and Relined also adheres to high network standards and a delivery time of 1 to 3 weeks. Alongside many other carrier-neutral data centres, the NorthC data centre in Oude Meer is connected to this network.
“NorthC has quickly become one of the larger players in the market. At Relined, we have noticed increasing demand for this leading carrier-neutral data centre. By connecting the data centre to our own network in Amsterdam, we are able to fulfil this demand for our customers. We can now be even more flexible in the data centre connections we offer. And with the same attractive conditions, competitive rates and short delivery times”, Dennis van Jaarsveld, Manager Sales Netherlands, explains. “So we are more than happy with this cooperation!”
Relined Fiber Network’s Dark Fiber network – made up of approx. 30,000 kilometres of high-quality fibre optics infrastructure and offering national coverage in both the Netherlands and Germany – is always developing. More than 125 carrier-neutral data centres are now (redundantly) connected to the Dark Fiber network in the Netherlands and Germany. And new data centres are regularly being added. An overview of all the data centres connected can be found in the PoP list on our website.
